INNAGURAL INSPIRATION DINNER & AUCTION

CELEBRATE AND SUPPORT THE SCC ON MAY 9TH

Get ready for an evening of connection and community spirit at the Summit Community Center (SCC)’s Inaugural Inspiration Dinner & Auction on Thursday, May 9, 2024. This will be our largest fundraising event of the year, and it makes a direct impact on the young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that we serve. We can’t wait to see you as we raise important funds for vital programs, services, and the sustainability of the SCC!

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR SPRING PROGRAMMING

Spring quarter at the SCC is underway and we still have space available! The schedule is full of member favorites and new opportunities to learn new skills, try out hobbies, and make connections. 

Both drop-in and series-based classes are available, and during our open hours we always welcome members to hang out in the vibrant common spaces.

PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHT: 
TUESDAY SEATTLE ADVENTURES

 

Introducing a new weekly group...Tuesday Seattle Adventures!

 

 

Join SCC for an adventurous time every week, and discover some of the amazing and unique sights that Seattle has to offer! This group will be visiting the Seattle Aquarium, the Gum Wall, the Fremont Troll, among other spots around Seattle.

 

REGISTER HERE  for drop-in adventures around Seattle from 1:00PM - 3:30PM, Tuesdays at SCC! 

MEMBER CORNER

Don't forget your Orca Pass - We encourage all of our members to carry an Orca pass with them while at the SCC as our groups are often engaging in the community and riding public transportation. Please bring an Orca card with you when registered for community outings. If you need support getting an Orca pass please contact the SCC. 

 

Arrival Times -  The SCC relies on public transportation schedules to get to our community destinations. Outing instructors will provide a 5 minute grace period for members to arrive at SCC. Upon that 5 minute grace period, outings will commence. If a member is absent or is not ready to transition to the outing, they will be supported in finding other activities at the SCC to participate in until the group returns. 

 

PLANNING FOR SUMMER?

 

The SCC will be offering a wide range of full-day and evening Summer programming 6 days per week focused on Community Engagement, Outdoor Programming, and Summer themed fun!

STAFF HIGHLIGHT: 
ALEXIS MONTGOMERY

Alexis started playing basketball when she was three. After high school she received a scholarship and attend Seattle University, where she earned a bachelors degree in communications. After graduation Alexis played professionally in Hyvinkää, Finland. Following her professional career she worked as a video coordinator for Seattle University women’s basketball. This past year she also was a varsity assistant coach at the Northwest school. Alexis loves to coach and has worked with various groups of youth athletes, she loves that basketball has no boundaries and the way it brings people together. In her free time, you will find Alexis cooking, enjoying nature, traveling and working out.

PARTNER HIGHLIGHT:
BRIDGES Programs

 

 

Students from Seattle Public Schools' BRIDGES (Building Real-life Independent Daily Living and Gainful Employment Skills) Programs have been collaborating with Summit!

 

 

Every week, BRIDGES students visit SCC for pre-employment DVR classes. In collaboration with Summit staff, these students work on self-advocacy, as well as build independent living skills and communication skills through cooking.

 

 

Students start with classroom work on self-advocacy and self-development, and then make a collaborative plan on how to follow a recipe, support each other, and cook together - and then, share a meal together!
